What is a high-risk merchant services account?

A high-risk merchant account is a business bank account that permits you to accept payments from debit and credit cards. They are specifically offered to merchants that are deemed to be too risky by standard processors.

What is the acceptance and onboarding process?

The account opening process for a high-risk account is similar to a standard account. You will be asked to complete an application form (often a pre-application first). Subject to initial review, you may be asked to provide processing history and complete KYC/KYB.

What if I have had my payment processing account terminated, or been placed on the MATCH list?

Within our network of providers we have high-risk account providers who will grant accounts to both terminated merchants and merchants who are on the Match list. It is not uncommon for these merchants to be subject to additional risk reduction measures.

How do we pay for your services?

To help manage risk of rejection and ensure clarity on the key deliverables, we offer a Milestone Payment Schedule. 

Example:

  • Milestone 1: Application gathering and pre-approval – 20% of total payment
  • Milestone 2: High-Risk account approval – 10% of total payment
  • Milestone 3: Technical Integration and Successful Test Payment – 40% of total payment
  • Milestone 4: Go-Live of new Payment Processing flow – 30% of total payment
